Program Coordinator, Experience + Education

Program Coordinator, Experience + Education (E+E)

NCARB is a nonprofit organization and global leader in architectural regulation. Located in Washington, D.C., our mission is to protect the public health, safety, and welfare by leading the regulation of the practice of architecture through the development and application of standards for licensure and credentialing of architects.

Our members are the architectural licensing boards of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. While each jurisdiction is responsible for regulating the practice of architecture within its borders, NCARB develops and administers national programs for licensure candidates and architects.

NCARB’s Experience + Education (E+E) team is searching for a Program Coordinator to join our team and help support E+E programs and the strategic outreach initiatives. This is a key member of the team and serves as the administrative backbone of our outreach program, which includes approximately 70 visits and events per year.  Job duties include administrative and logistical tasks for the team’s outreach activities, serving as a key point of contact, planning and scheduling outreach events around the country and coordinating their logistics. In addition, this position provides support and customer care for assigned E+E programs and special projects, especially foreign applicants seeking licensure in the US.

Our team is responsible for developing and managing NCARB’s AXP ®; assisting foreign candidates seeking licenses in the US; interfacing with university architecture programs; overseeing NCARB’s continuing education offerings, and developing innovative outreach programs to children, students, professors, licensure candidates, and architects.

This position reports to the Assistant Vice President, Experience + Education, and is a highly collaborative role working with a wide range of professionals.  If you are a detail-oriented person who enjoys both juggling calendars and building long-distance relationships with external stakeholders, then this may be the job for you.  This is a great job for a person who can thrive in chaos but help bring order to it. This is not a travel position.

Duties will include:

  • Collaboration as you partner with team members to provide support and customer care for E+E programs, outreach initiatives, logistics coordination, planning, scheduling and other team projects.
  • Relationship building as you develop congenial and long-lasting relationships with our outreach partners.
  • Organization as you develop and maintain calendars, schedules, contact lists, electronic libraries and resources, and monitor inventories of publications and other outreach materials.
  • Continual learning as you develop and maintain an understanding of NCARB’s programs and services.

At a minimum, you have:

  • An open, positive attitude that enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree; or, combination of substantial related experience, training, and education may substitute.
  • One to two years of similar experience in a volunteer association environment, customer service, or related field that includes strong interpersonal skills and a passion for communicating and working with people, a customer-centric mindset, attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using technology and a wide variety of software applications to include Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Some minimal travel including weekends may occasionally be required.

Ideally you have:

  • A passion for reaching out to people and establishing strong relationships.
  • Relevant experience in an outreach and/or logistics planning and support.
  • Foreign language skills.
  • Pride in the accuracy of your work.

It would be awesome if you also have:

  • Association experience.
  • Interest in architecture, professional licensure, or higher education.
  • Experience working with teams in an Agile project management environment.
